'Mother Hen'
No mother wants to see harm come to her offspring. They all want their young to be healthy. To live.
Why do we think this only applies to humans? Or the "pets" we grow bonds with?
"Mother Hen" represents motherhood. She is a chicken who wants nothing more than to see her eggs hatch. The names on the eggs are there to make you question how you feel about the future chicks. If we give them cute pet names, like Fido or Princess, do they become more worthy of life?

About Gemma
Gemma is a British artist and illustrtor, specialising in wildlife and nature inspired works. With a degree in illustration and a great love of the natural world, Gemma combines the two to produce a range of wildlife portraits, natural history illustrations and animal art pieces, using only vegan materials to capture the finer details of furs, feathers and scales.
From a young age, Gemma was brought up with a keen interest in ornithology, and so subsequently much of her work focuses on our feathered friends, from our humble great tit, to the more exotic lilac breasted roller of South Africa. Inspired by the likes of Charles Darwin and John James Audubon, Gemma hopes her passion will lead her further afield to study wildlife, keeping a visual record as reference to help build on her folio and experience as a wildlife illustrator"
Based in Warrington, England,Gemma accepts commissions.
